⁣Birthing and women's bodies has always been a highly political subject and with today’s regulations of potentially not having your birth partner present for birthing it’s even more prevalent.  It's #worldhealthday and this important day has never been more meaningful. ⠀

Today the WHO announced the World Health Assembly has designated 2020 the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife.⠀
🤍⠀
Nurses and midwives play a vital role in providing health services. They are the people who devote their lives to caring for mothers and children; giving lifesaving immunizations and health advice; looking after older people and generally meeting everyday essential health needs. They are often the first and only point of care in our communities and today go out on the frontlines and in these unprecedented times, serve people in ways that have never been seen before.  Midwives too are #healthcareheros.⠀

Midwives contribute their efforts to keep care out of hospital by providing primary care and birth management in the community, where appropriate they too must have access to PPE and in many cases have not been receiving the support they desperately need.⠀

The WHO indicated the world needs 9 million more nurses and midwives if it is to achieve universal health coverage by 2030.⠀

At Mayana Genevière we have been working hard to contribute our resources to benefit our communities and those on the front lines of our health-care system including our birthing professionals who provide invaluable services especially during this time as births are not elective.
