⁣Because the postpartum bump is JUST as important as the baby bump. PERIOD.⠀

Shout out to #meghanmarkle for selecting a dress that keeps it 💯. This is how Matrescense needs to be celebrated, with honour for both our being AND our body in ALL its glory. ⠀

Despite what Instagram shows us,  A LOT of us "still look pregnant" AFTER we've had our baby. I definitely did. Had I not known it was common and a part of the #fourthtrimester I would have had a much harder time (shout out to my doula). ⠀

Although the comments came from an innocent, uneducated place (I was the first amongst my friends to have a baby) - they still stung. I do remember people asking me if I had the baby why does my tummy look like that, did I lose any weight when she came out etc...⠀

This further highlights the necessity for normalization and why we founded maternal_goddess.  Having a baby subjects women to so many forms of judgment on how we look, birth and mother, it's actually shocking how unhealthy the obsession is to comment, touch or police our body the minute we have a baby bump. ⠀
