Now announcing Version 4 of the AllSides Media Bias Chart™, with updated ratings! Our chart helps you to easily identify different perspectives. We make media bias transparent so you can avoid manipulation, fake news, and misinformation.  

Here’s what’s new Version 4:

▪️Moved CNN online news from Lean Left to Left (we DON’T rate television content!) This rating now matches CNN’s opinion content, which we rate separately, also as Left.
▪️Moved Newsweek from Left to Center.
▪️Added Independent Journal Review, which we now rate as Center (previously Lean Right).
▪️Moved Marketwatch from Lean Right to Center.

✔️A recent Blind Bias Survey helped strengthen and affirm our ratings for Fox News, Newsmax news, New York Post news, and Politico. We’re also keeping a close eye on Reuters.

❗️Some reminders about the chart:

👉🏼We don't rate accuracy or credibility. This chart speaks to perspective only.

👉🏼We use multipartisan, scientific analysis and multiple methodologies to rate bias, including Blind Bias Surveys, Editorial Reviews, independent reviews and third party data.

👉🏼Center doesn't mean better! We encourage people to read outlets across the political spectrum, NOT just Center outlets. A Center rating doesn't necessarily mean a source is neutral, unbiased, perfectly reasonable or credible, just as Left and Right don't necessarily mean extreme, wrong, or unreasonable. A Center rating simply means the source does not predictably publish perspectives favoring either end of the political spectrum — conservative or liberal. The source may still omit important perspectives, or run individual articles that display bias.

There is rarely a perfect Center outlet — many of our Center outlets are somewhat Center-Left (NPR, BBC and AP), while others are somewhat Center-Right (RealClearPolitics).
