Repost rescuedogsrocknyc: "A picture that paints a thousand words." Even a non animal advocate or non animal lover has to recognize the pain, the loneliness, the emptiness and the brokeness of spirit in this photo. It is a family photo void of color and warmth. It is everything that shouldn't be. 
This could be a dog in any shelter across the world. This could be a litter of puppies born to another stray, unfixed, untagged dog, anywhere in our Country. This could be a skinny, mistreated dog in your County, who can barely lift her head up she's tired, weak and yet will do what her motherly instincts tell her to do and that is to nurture her offspring as she has done before time and time again.This, is happening. It's in your Cities, your towns, your neighborhoods every day. 
The unwanted. The unfixed. The untagged.  The unending. This is the community problem that gets pushed on to the shoulders of the elusive "somebody" that needs to fix it. 
We are all that "somebody". It starts with each one of us. Support your local shelter, support your local rescues, promote spay & neuter. Be the change you want to see. 
Start conversations to educate. Educate as many as possible. Adopt don't buy. Volunteer when ever you can. Network to expose the dogs. Foster to save lives. Donate so we can help. Share so they can be seen. "Saving one dog will not change the world, BUT surely for that ONE dog, the world will change forever."
