LASD Explorers from Temple Station participated in the  us_space_force_official tour on Wednesday, March 27. 

During the tour, they learned the history of the U.S. Space Force and some designs and models of #satellites, #rockets, and launching systems. They also learned how much power science and #technology have to improve our world.  

Our Explorers also had the opportunity to build a project using their physics, mathematics, and geometry knowledge.  They needed to choose and utilize materials to create a stabilized structure at a certain height and also were able to hold a certain weight.  In addition, they needed to calculate the cost of their material to meet the budget requirement. 

Following the project, they made paper rockets under the staff's instructions.  With joy and a feeling of accomplishment,  they launched their rockets!

The Deputy Explorer Program is a career development and education program open to mature young adults between the age of 14-20. The Academy is an 18-week program held every Saturday at STARS Center in Whittier. The Deputy Explorer Program cultivates better citizenship by fostering teamwork, encouraging collaborative efforts, building character, nurturing aspirations, imparting life skills, and promoting values such as respect and integrity.
