There’s no hotel with a darker, more controversial history than the Cecil Hotel in Downtown LA. Since its opening in 1927, the property has gone from the chic new place to the most haunted hotel in the city.

The Great Depression, the proximity to LA’s problematic neighborhood known as Skid Row, and multiple failed projects have led to the hotel’s somber reputation—which has since been solidified by a string of suicides and murders connected to the place.

In 2021, the property became an affordable housing complex. Now that it’s up for sale, once again, residents are wondering where to go next. Read the full story linked in our bio. What horror stories have you heard from the Cecil Hotel?
