If you’ve ever competed before you probably know the feeling that comes after. Excitement is gone and motivation has dwindled. I’ve actually heard this referred to as the post-meet hangover. Let’s be real, training SBD all the time can get pretty boring especially if you don’t have a meet planned in the near future. I’m guilty of this myself. I think there’s no much emphasis on the actual ’meet prep’ that the importance of an effective off-season plan can get lost.
.
The purpose of an off-season is to develop qualities that’ll enhance the next training phase. An off-season plan to improve the quality of our next meet prep should therefore focus on improving overall work capacity, increasing lean mass/ body composition, and greater exercise selection to address potential weaknesses.
.
It’s okay to take a break from heavy lifting for a while to get our shit together. With that being said, I’ll be enjoying my last week of pretending I’m a track star 💜
