(Swipe) On Thursday, the #Virginia governor vetoed a bill to legalize rec MJ sales, saying that it would pose a danger to health and safety, poison children, increase gang activity / violent crime, ruin mental health, decrease road safety, and more.

Virginia legalized the possession of small amounts of herb and at-home cultivation three years ago, but regular consumers remain without a legal retail option in the state.

#GlennYoungkin also vetoed another bill allowing for resentencing of past pot convictions, spearheaded by lastprisonerproject. Adrian Rocha, policy manager at LPP, denounced the veto as a continuation of outdated policy.

“Under the bill, thousands of individuals charged for ca**abis offenses under outdated laws would have had their sentences reevaluated in light of legalization..” he said.

Dems still have another chance to make these bills law by overriding his vetoes. But is it a good chance?
