Today marks the start of National Latino Heritage Month, also recognized as #HispanicHeritageMonth! Each year across the US, from September 15 - October 15, the month-long observance celebrates the histories, cultures, and contributions of those individuals whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. 

The special month-long observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson. It was later expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. 

During this month, we celebrate the cultures, achievements, and share stories from #YourVCSO.

¡Hoy marca el inicio del Mes nacional de la herencia latina, también conocida como el #MesdelaHerenciaHispana! Cada año en los EE.UU., del 15 de septiembre al 15 de octubre, la observancia que dura un mes celebra las historias, culturas y contribuciones de aquellas personas cuyos antepasados vinieron de España, México, el Caribe y América Central y del Sur.

La observancia especial comenzó en 1968 como la Semana de la Herencia Hispana bajo el presidente Lyndon Johnson. Años después, fue ampliada por el presidente Ronald Reagan en 1988 para cubrir un período de 30 días que comienza el 15 de septiembre y termina el 15 de octubre.

Durante este mes, celebramos las culturas, logros e historias del personal de la VCSO.
