In celebration of #WomensHistoryMonth, today we honor Deputy Dora Ponce Willeford.

Deputy Ponce Willeford was VCSO’s first female deputy and served the citizens of Ventura County from 1949 - 1980. She worked patrol, investigations, detention services, and was the first female deputy assigned to the Ventura County Superior Court as a bailiff. Her vast and diversified experience was equaled by only a few women in the nation during her time of service and pioneered the way for many more women in law enforcement today.

La Oficial Ponce Willeford fue la primera mujer que trabajó como oficial para la VCSO y sirvió a los ciudadanos del condado de Ventura de 1949 a 1980. Ella trabajó en patrullas, investigaciones, servicios de detención y fue la primera oficial asignada al Tribunal Superior del Condado de Ventura como alguacil.
