“I have lived in Oxnard my whole life. My mom worked for Oxnard PD as a crossing guard supervisor. As I grew up, I sat with her on her crosswalk and would go into the station with her sometimes. I'm a military brat, so I have grown up with that kind of structure and I enjoy it. When I came out of college as a business administration major I just had no idea that I could work for a police agency and not have to be a police officer.” 

Meet Cheryl Morrison, 👋🏼 a Crime Analyst with our Crime Analysis Unit.
 
“I was hired to be the administrative assistant for West County Patrol and handled the budget for the station. I decided I wanted to do something more and I found out about the crime analysis program. So, I went back to school, and completed the Certified Crime and Intelligence Analyst Certificate Program at Cal State Northridge.

At VCSO, each analyst is assigned to be the analyst expert in a particular crime or crimes. I currently handle the crime categories of shoplifting, fraud/forgery, and incidents that need to be documented. So, daily I review the crime reports, write abstract summaries, look for any crime trends or series and share the information with the other analysts, detectives, deputies, and other police agencies. Crime Analysis is an information resource, for not just the detectives that we support, but for all of the deputies that are out in the field and then on up the line to Command Staff. Our team is a cohesive crime analysis unit and one of the more innovative units throughout California."
