Senior Deputy Lisa D. Whitney

May 26, 1970 – August 12, 1998

Sr. Deputy Lisa Whitney, an 8-year veteran, was killed in a traffic collision when a driver broadsided her unmarked detective vehicle. She was on her way to interview a rape victim at the time of the collision. The driver was under the influence of drugs and was sentenced to 13 years in prison. Lisa was a member of our Mounted Patrol Unit, Mounted Honor Guard, and a certified trainer known throughout California. Lisa will be always remembered as the “Angel on Horseback.” #sheriffvc
