Incident: Curfew Declared in Response to Thomas Fire
Location: City of Ventura
Date/Time: Effective 12/5/2017, 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. daily until state of emergency has been lifted

The City of Ventura has declared a curfew in response to the Thomas Fire Incident. Effective December 5, 2017 a curfew is in effect starting at 10:00 p.m. and ending at 5:00 a.m. daily. During this curfew time no person shall be upon the public street, avenue, alley, park, or other public place or unimproved public property within the entire jurisdictional limits of the City of Ventura. This curfew is put in place to protect all residents of the City of Ventura and to prevent crime such as looting in evacuation areas. The City would like to thank all residents for their cooperation.

The City of Ventura understands and appreciates the concern for the residents who have been displaced by the Thomas Fire. Under the extreme current conditions, it is impossible to allow residents to reenter areas that have been damaged by or are still experiencing erratic fire conditions. Mandatory evacuations have not been lifted. As soon as it is safe to reenter immediate notifications will be sent out to the community by press release and posted on social media.

The City of Ventura implores that all residents and visitors not attempt to enter dangerous areas. By doing so, this further taxes police and fire resources. All city resources are doing their best to ensure the safety of those in our fine city. Please help us during this trying situation by staying in areas that are currently considered safe zones of the city. Stay vigilant, and visit www.vcemergency.com for the latest information.
