We're excited to introduce you to BOKA's new General Manager, Devin Drerup. Devin has been a part of the Boka Restaurant family since he joined the opening team of AllaVitaChicago last year. Get to know a little more about Devin below, and make sure to say hello during your next visit! ⁠

Q: What attracted you to the hospitality industry?⁠
A:I have always been a fan of theatre, so much that I went to school to study Opera. I think it's safe to say that I am naturally inclined to be attracted to the theatrical experience of restaurant service! I also deeply love connection and community, which you get plenty of in Hospitality. People go to restaurants for an unending list of reasons, and we get to be a part of these experiences. Sometimes it's for only one moment, sometimes we get lucky to experience many life milestones with our wonderful guests. ⁠

Q: Can you tell us about your current position at BOKA? ⁠
A: I am currently the General Manager at Boka and made my way to the restaurant at the end of June. I just passed my one-year anniversary with BRG (time flies!), and was fortunate enough to be part of the opening team at Alla Vita! Opening a restaurant is a great way to introduce yourself to a new city, and I loved the experience!⁠

Q: What is your favorite menu item right now?⁠
A: Before I moved to Chicago I spent 10 years in Boston, and I grew very fond of oysters. Nothing beats freshly shucked oysters to start dinner! We just added Beausoleil oysters from New Brunswick, Canada. The fresh, bright salinity is complimented with a kiss of sweetness from blueberries. Grab some champagne and you're set!⁠

Q: What do you like about working at BOKA?​ ⁠
A: I love working at Boka because I am constantly inspired and motivated to do great work by my team. They are the pulse of the restaurant and are the true storytellers for our guests. They show up every day ready to welcome anyone in, and we have a ton of fun doing what we do! How lucky am I?!⁠
