In 2016, we stood with our Indigenous friends, family, and neighbors at #StandingRock to oppose the #DakotaAccessPipeline.⁣

Eight years later, Indigenous Peoples and frontline communities still have not seen resolution. 🤬⁣
⁣
The pipeline, greenlit by the Trump administration, jeopardizes our land and water. And their court-ordered environmental impact statement has not only yet to be finalized, but also fails to account for Energy Transfer's history of criminal charges and poor safety record. ⁣
⁣
And that’s not all. Energy Transfer, the company behind the pipeline, is now suing Greenpeace USA for supporting Indigenous activism against pipeline expansion, toxic air pollution and toxic water pollution. And, the company is alleging that Greenpeace orchestrated the entire resistance at Standing Rock. ⁣
⁣
To be clear, these claims are complete lies. Indigenous communities have ALWAYS been leaders in the fight to protect the earth from exploitation and corporate greed. To erase them from the conversation is a racist attempt to silence their efforts to protect this planet. As usual, the only real predator here is Energy Transfer and their abusive corrupt allies. In fact, Energy Transfer has a list of environmental disasters a mile long. ⁣

Here’s what this lawsuit is REALLY about. Energy Transfer wants to silence anybody — from environmental orgs to journalists and individual activists like you— who may get in the way of their bottom line. And they’re willing to put our entire planet and our constitutional rights at risk to do it. ⁣
⁣
They’re threatened by our attempts to uplift the voices of the people they’re harming, but we won’t let that stop us. ⁣
