On this day in 1991, Leroy Burrell set a new 100m World Record of 9.90 at the USATF Championships at Downing Stadium on NY’s Randall’s Island. Finishing second was Burrell’s training partner, Carl Lewis (9.93), the previous record holder at 9.92.
