Five fun facts you probably didn’t know about City of Calgary parks:

1. We maintain over 8,000 hectares of parkland and natural areas. That’s nearly the size of the entire City of Airdrie. 🌳🌞

2. There are over 1,000 kilometres of pathways – the most extensive pathway and bikeway network in North America. 🚴‍♀️ 🚶‍♂️

3. For those who prefer team sports, we have a whopping 991 playfields for soccer, football, baseball, rugby, and more! 🏀🏈⚽️

4. We maintain 1,162 playgrounds. 10 of those are new inclusive play spaces, enabling Calgarians of all abilities to play together. 🤸‍♀️ 👩‍🦼

5. Last year, we sustainably planted 7,525 trees in parks and streetscapes, plus 100,000 seedlings. 🌿🌱

Calgary’s parks and open spaces are cherished places that connect Calgarians with nature, our heritage and each other.
