You've always relied on us to deliver the services that you value. The past 19 months have certainly been no exception.

Here are some of the ways we've been here for you:

🧍↔️🧍 Programs with an emphasis on physical distancing included nature adventure playgrounds, self-guided park walking tours, and firepit bookings. The alcohol in parks pilot was also successfully launched with 1,556 bookings.

👩‍🚒 Additional firefighter safety measures are in place for medical incident responses, and fire safety education has shifted to virtual program delivery instead of in-person.

💉 We've provided Alberta Health Services with a number of temporary, pop-up and permanent locations for COVID-19 testing and vaccinations.

🤳 Video building inspections and virtual platforms for outreach have been used to comply with health and safety protocols and to promote a more inclusive approach for Calgarians.

🧊 We implemented rate freezes and deferrals for transit fares, water rates, residential black, blue and green cart program rates, cemetery, greenspace and community sport field fees, hotel and motel property taxes, planning and development fees and more.

💸 Some of our user fees were waived or cancelled, including outdoor patios, parks vendor program fees, business licensing-related fees and more.

💻 We worked on calgary.ca/ourfinances to increase transparency and help Calgarians understand how property tax dollars are invested in City services. 

🛍️ We’ve encouraged Calgarians to support local shops and services through our #SupportLocalYYC campaign.

🌇 We supported restaurants, pubs, bars, fitness centres, and entertainment establishments, including nightclubs and live music venues, in their reopening efforts through the Calgary Reopening Grant program. We introduced a new grant program called the Calgary Business Support Grant, currently underway, to further support businesses and organizations as they ensure compliance with municipal and provincial public health measures.
