#StudentSpotlight: Jacob Feldmann is a Ph.D. candidate in the WVU Department of Neuroscience.

A former collegiate gymnast, Jacob began his journey into neuroscience as an undergradate student at the College of William & Mary, interested in the chemical and biological reasons behind behavioral output. After graduating, he engaged in stem cell research within a catecholamine neurobiology-based lab at Massachusetts General Hospital.

At WVU, he is studying studying neuroimmunology in the context of neurodegeneration and inflammatory cell signaling.

"My project is studying neutrophil JAK/STAT signaling in the context of Alzheimer's disease progression. Specifically, I am looking at the progression over time with mice, looking at brain changes as they occur in the pathology and how the brain is reacting to the disease in cell death, as well as morphological changes where we look at different structures of the brain and see how that progresses over time. We're also doing behavioral outputs and cognitive testing on them as well."
