In honor of #WomensHistoryMonth, join us in learning more about some of the first female faculty members at St. Mark's School:

Anna Pliscz was the first full-time female faculty member at St. Mark's. She was a dedicated and brilliant biology teacher and was the first woman department chair at St. Mark’s.

Eve Carey introduced ceramic arts to the St. Mark’s program in the 1950s and was a teacher at St. Mark’s for 30 years.

Barbara Jacks introduced theater arts to the St. Mark’s curriculum from the Southborough School in 1974.

Lee Wells was the German teacher, coach, community service program coordinator, and much more over her long career at St. Mark's.

Barbara Putnam, the longest-tenured woman on the current St. Mark’s faculty, has taught visual arts—painting and printing—for 40+ years. She is the first woman to hold the title of senior teacher in the 150-plus-year history of St. Mark's.
