This is what it looks like when scientists use fluorescent imaging to create a five-dimensional image of a zebrafish embryo. The technology, called Hyper-Spectral Phasor analysis, or HySP, was developed by postdoctoral fellow Francesco Cutrale and Scott Fraser of USC's Translational Imaging Center. The new image analysis technique makes finding important biological molecules — including tell-tale signs of disease — and learning how they interact in living organisms much faster and far less expensive.
