✨ HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH: MEET BOBBY GAYTAN ✨

Born in Nampa, Idaho, bobbygaytan journey took him from crop fields to becoming an influential artist. His roots spanned South Texas, East Michigan, and South Idaho, where his family moved annually for seasonal work. In Texas, he was inspired by street art and began sketching urban landscapes. Bobby continued his artistic pursuit at boisestateuniversity , where he earned a bachelor’s degree in graphic design.

🌟 Bobby's impact on our community shines through his art. He's transformed spaces like Whitney Elementary School, filling hallways with vibrant murals, inspiring students to do their best.

downtownboise also bears his creative touch, with art on 8th Street barriers, adding life to the cityscape. His art isn't confined to one medium; he uses graffiti techniques and works on projects ranging from low-rider bikes to illustrations.

Artwork highlights:
✨ Groovin' - located in the Alaska building, downtown Boise
✨ The Pursuit of... - traffic art box located in downtown Boise on 10th and Main
✨ Keep Your Future Alive - side of neurolux
✨Con Estas Manos - ridevrt bus stop in front of the Caldwell Library

Now, Bobby is an Arts Commissioner for the meridianidaho , where he continues to make a difference through his creative vision. He recently received the "Amigos Del Año" Award by the Idaho Commission for Hispanic Affairs.

Some years ago, I attended the Idaho Youth Symposium for the first time. Prior to that event, I was familiar with Bobby's work. During my walks around Boise, his artwork always caught my eye. I hadn't met him, but I recognized his name. At this Symposium, he was the keynote speaker. Initially , I didn't recognize the name when he was introduced. It wasn't until his artwork was mentioned that it clicked. In light of all his talents and recognition, it's evident he has a strong passion for his community, his family, and his parents. His poignant remarks about his mother and her lasting inspiration remains with me to this day.

Keep inspiring and connecting the community with your art, Bobby.
