The departure of Wes Moore after 15 years in 2013, left a hole in the hearts of Chattanooga fans, but that hole was quickly filled with the arrival of Jim Foster.
 
Foster led programs at St. Joseph's, Vanderbilt and Ohio State. His eyes were affixed on the successful Chattanooga program.
 
In the summer before he was to begin leading the Mocs, he was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. Once he was on the scene, he led Chattanooga to four Southern Conference regular season titles and four more SoCon Tournament crowns. He claimed his 800th win and became just the eighth women's basketball coach to reach 900 career victories.

Just two years after Moore led the Mocs to an astounding win over Tennessee in the Roundhouse, Foster's group beat the fourth-ranked Lady Vols in Holly Warlick's first season. Less than a month later, the Mocs would tally a second Top-10 upset, beating the seventh-ranked Stanford Cardinal. Chattanooga would climb through the rankings in the AP Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches Poll reaching as high as 17th and 18th respectively.
 
Former student-athlete Katie Galloway Burrows spent eight seasons on the bench as an assistant coach, learning from Moore and Foster. She became the sixth head coach for the Mocs and led UTC to the 2019-20 regular season title. Chattanooga was slated to compete in the Women's National Invitation Tournament but a world-wide pandemic brought the postseason to a screeching halt.
 
Shawn Poppie brings us current in our "50 Seasons of Greatness". He jumped onto the scene last year and led the Mocs to a second place regular season finish and a surprising run through the Southern Conference Tournament.
 
He continued the tradition, leading his team to a 19th SoCon Tournament title, keeping the Mocs undefeated in the championship game. From there, UTC advanced to the NCAA Tournament, 16th in program history.
