#NEWS #GDep, once signed to #BadBoys Records in the late ‘90s, has been released from prison after serving nearly fifteen years behind bars. New York Governor Kathy Hochul granted clemency to the 49-year-old rapper, real name Trevell Coleman, last year, allowing him to become eligible for parole sooner than expected.

After his release on April 4th, G. Dep’s Instagram page showcased his return to freedom, including a prayer circle outside Fishkill Correctional Facility and his first meal at iHop.

Originally sentenced to 15 years to life, G. Dep’s clemency grant enabled him to petition for parole after 13 years, as opposed to the previous stipulation of waiting for the 15-year mark. His conviction stemmed from a 1993 incident where he attempted to rob someone at gunpoint, resulting in the victim’s death.

Despite the tragedy, G. Dep’s music career flourished with hits like “Let’s Get It” and “Special Delivery” under Diddy’s label. In 2010, he surrendered to authorities, leading to his subsequent imprisonment.
