Over the summer, junior Carly Onnick traded a surfboard for skis and popsicles for ice cores as she traveled over 3,800 miles to Juneau, Alaska. She and a team of students, scientists, and safety experts conducted field research on a 2-month journey from Juneau, Alaska to Atlin, British Columbia. On her expedition, Carly traversed ice fields, skied down glaciers, and sketched mountains all while she conducted scientific research on ice cores. Whether you are a fan of the hot, or incredibly cold, at UNC there are a number of study abroad programs and research opportunities available to every student!
