Pop quiz! What are “Galactagogues?”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We’ll give you some hints…it stems from a Greek word (thank you Wikipedia). It’s pronounced guh-lac-ta-gog (last part rhymes with “bog”). And they help with something you do AFTER baby is born.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Drum roll…Galactagogues are, scientifically speaking, substances that promote lactation in humans (and other animals, but we are sticking to humans here). So basically, galactagogues are great for nursing. We know there are women out there that don’t have an issue with milk supply, but galactagogues can assist when things outside your control affect your milk supply (when you are sick, baby is sick, high stress, & more).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
