I tore my ACL on my senior night in high school. Despite this injury and long recovery, I was still included as a part of the team my freshman year. Being able to be a part of practices, game days, and road trips helped me throughout my recovery and through my first year of college. I still had basketball as an outlet. Entering my sophomore year of college, I was working hard and ready to get back to basketball but just shy of two weeks until the start of the season, I tore the same ACL again and my meniscus. When I went down, I opened my eyes and saw all of my teammates around me. They were there for me, our trainer was there for me, and my coaches were too. I knew what had happened that day and the pain I felt in my mind and leg was indescribable. Deep down, I knew that there was more for me to learn from being the writer of another comeback story.

Monday, I began my first college season after 2+ years of being a stranger to the court. The feeling I had that day and today is something I will never forget. I've learned that mental strength can push you through anything, that physical strength is beautiful, and to never give up on a dream or a game you love just because you get knocked down.

I am forever thankful for the opportunity to be included with our team for two years and to still have everyone in my corner pushing me to now get back to basketball.
