Your next #RoadToWattys challenge is here. The month of August has everything to do with editing—one of the final stages of your 2021 Wattys journey! And we've got some tips to get you through every last step 👇

1. Look out for spelling and grammar. This is what sets the standard for your quality of work. Even though your word processor will catch most mistakes, it can't read your mind and doesn't know your story. Go through your work with a fine-toothed comb and become your own personal spellchecker. 🔎

2. Consistency is key. You're a creative, and you probably had tons of ideas while writing. But one important thing to consider is consistency, revising your work, and paying attention to details to make sure they match and add up through your work 🔑✨

3. Read it out loud. Unsure about the flow of your story? Reading it out loud helps make sure your work sounds just as good as it looks on paper. Reading out loud will help you nail down grammar, consistency, detail and authenticity 🗣

4. Keep things eventful. When you first start writing, everything can feel important. While revising your work, ask yourself: Do these events advance the plot, help my character grow, and make readers want to keep reading?

5. Seek out constructive criticism. Seeking advice from people you trust and admire is always a good idea when finalizing your work. Outside opinions help make your story the best it can be 🙏
