BTS at the End:

In-Depth BTS: 
I got the inspo for this shoot from @danszpakowski After what he did for the Jets Media Day. So I decided to try it out/practice the technique. 
HOW I SHOT IT: 
Camera: 5D Mark 4
Lens: Canon 24-70 f/2.8 L 
Lighting: 2 Youngnuo Speedlights + 1 Godox 60SL W Constant Light 
Settings: SS: 1.5s, f/18, ISO 800

LIGHTING: - 1 Speedlight in a Softbox Camera Right in front Juwan as a Main Light to illuminate the face/front - 1 Bare speedlight camera right behind Juwan to act as a “kicker/rim light” and give him extra separation from the background
- 1 Godox constant light camera left to the side of Juwan to illuminate his movement throughout the duration of the Frame (1.5-2s) 
LOGISTICS: 
With such a long shutter, I set my camera on a tripod, and set my lights to First-Curtain Sync. - Where it causes flashes to fire towards the end of the frame instead of at the beginning. - This allows Juwan to move with the camera open, having his movement be illuminated by the constant light, then his final motion be frozen by the flash at the end of the frame. 
IMPROVEMENTS FOR NEXT TIME:
- More constant lights, I can get a more defined movement if I had more lights to illuminate the movement than just 1 60 watt light
- Having a flash system that is capable of doing Second Curtain Sync (which my cheap speedlights cannot do) would’ve probably yield slightly better results. - I would preferred a blacked out background, but space is rare in Miami. So beggars can’t be choosers.
