OFF DAY thoughts 💭
Taking a day off today even though my foot is staying steady at a 1-2 out of 5 on pain…
because I made a promise to myself, my coach, and my therapists that I would take this build up slow and steady and not rush back into mileage or workouts.
In my head I understand how much more sense it makes to take a day off after 6 days of consistent running when I haven’t done that since March, but then there’s that 🤪 part of my brain that’s greedy and wants mooooore!
I’m saying this because I KNOW I’m not the only runner out there with this problem. And I want to say: if I can do it, so can you!
If you’re a Type A, perfectionist, comparison-making, over-achieving, do-it-all-and-then-some, kind of athlete like me… you know how hard it is to take an off day and really rest.
Honestly I almost changed my mind about the day off when I was walking the dog this morning. Like I said… 🤪
Here’s what’s helping me today:
This summer I had to take over 6 weeks completely off. No running or cross-training. That sucked. And I’d rather take one day off per week and run all year long than run every day for months and then have to take massive chunks of time off my feet. Put it like that and it’s an easy decision.
Time for a day off.
Check out my stories today to see what I’m doing with my off day!
