This is my IWD squad right here!
International Women’s Day is about celebrating the accomplishments of women in all areas of life all over the world. It’s also a call to action to challenge gender inequalities and lift women up.
My biggest inspiration to be a strong, confident woman is my team. The women of the Bowerman Track Club all have different strengths and weaknesses, but we refuse to spend time and energy putting each other down when we mess up, being jealous of each other’s abilities, or sabotaging one another. We know that if we support each other and push ourselves as a team to be better, faster, stronger, that we will all end up meeting our goals.
I hope that my team and I can be role models for younger girls to see what it looks like to be a badass female athlete. I hope that watching us do our thing inspires young girls to keep working hard at their passions so that one day they accomplish things I can’t even dream of. 💪🏻💪🏿💪🏽💪🏼💪🏾
P.s. I love this photo of our crew on our last day at altitude camp this winter. Marielle insisted that we all march over to the end of the track to the “Air is rare” sign for a family photo. We were all exhausted and ready for lunch, but we did it and I love that we have this (rare) group photo.
