On this day, 105 years ago, the great resistance leader King Rudolf Douala Manga Bell was executed by German authorities.  
At the start of the First World War, King Rudolf led a rebellion against oppressive German colonial rule in Cameroon. He was arrested by the Reichstag and hanged for high treason on August 8th 1914. His actions made him a martyr to the Cameroonian people. On this day we celebrate the legacy of this great African hero.
