## Caption

There’s nothing more iconic to the state of Texas than the Texas longhorn. Almost wiped out in early 20th century, the Texas longhorn was saved from extinction by the United States government, who established wildlife refuges for the species beginning in 1927. Today, it is the state’s official large mammal and mascot of the University of Texas! 🤘
