HOF inductee Edwin Koech (Kenya) placed 6th in the 1984 Olympic Games 800M in Los Angeles leading the race until the very end.  Koech was a member of the 1984 Kenyan National Olympic Team. He competed in the finals of the 800M in L.A., finishing sixth with a time of 1:44.86. Throughout his years at Richmond, he was a four-time NCAA All-American, two-time NCAA national champion and a member of the 1982 NCAA championship 2-mile relay and World Indoor Record setting team. Koech competed at the 1984 Games with 1983 Richmond grad Sosthenes Bitok.

Teammate and HOF member, McKeon was the Most Valuable Track Athlete in 1985. He was a two-time Division I All-American in the 1000 yard run and the 1500 meter run. McKeon ranked third in the nation in the indoor mile in 1985 running 3:58.62. He was three-time Virginia State Collegiate Champion at 1500 meters and 1000 meters. McKeon was the 1985 Millrose Games Champion in the college mile. He was a two-time member of the U.S. National Track and Field Team, representing the United States against Great Britain and against Ireland in international competitions. McKeon was a three-time qualifier for the U.S. Olympic Trials at 1500 meters and was a semi-finalist at the 1984 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

Hardy is a UR graduate, track and cross country alumni and the son of the late Fred Hardy who brought the Richmond Spiders international recognition and prowess. -
