What a great surprise to open this morning's rtdnews to find this photo of urichmond spiderathletics Hall of Fame member Bill Jordan (UR '53)! To this day he is one of the truly great men we've had the opportunity meet and spend time with. -
Not only a tremendous student-athlete and coach for the Spiders, Bill Jordan was also an accomplished professor for over two decades and at one time managed the intramural/recreational sports department before his retirement in ~1999. He also started Richmond's Women's Track & Field program as a varsity sport in 1976.

**1945-Graduated Thomas Jefferson High School (Richmond, Virginia)
**1946-Entered Merchant Marine (Tour in Northern Poland)
**1946-Inducted into the Army as a paratrooper in the fall. (Assigned mostly to Japan)
**1948-Enrolled at the University of Richmond (Pre-engineering student)
1950-Recalled into the Army Engineers (Japan)
**1951-Returned to University of Richmond (education major)
**1953-Graduated from the University of Richmond
**1953-54-University of North Carolina-Freshman Track & Field Coach and Graduate Student
**1954-55- North Carolina State University Assistant Track & Field Coach
**1955-66-Wake Forest University Head Track & Field Coach
**1966-85-Returned to the University of Richmond as Assistant Professor, Director of Intramurals, and Volunteer Track & Field Coach with lifetime friend, Fred Hardy.
**1976-Established the University of Richmond Women's Track & Field Team as a Varsity Sport.
**1985-2001-Continued to help with the UR track & field teams under Coach Rick Wagenaar.
**1999-Retired from teaching at UR, but continued adjunct teaching for the next two years until the Health & Sport Science program was discontinued.
**2001-04-Assistant Track & Field Coach for current head coaches Steve and Lori Taylor.
