When I got the assignment to cover Candy for discoveredmagazine this spring, I went into it wanting to capture everything on film, portraits and live photos. And to have not just the backing but the encouragement to do so. I was stoked. So often I’m working film in as a secondary, using it to grab little bits and pieces here and there. To bring nothing but manual focus film cameras. The dream. 

I also knew I wanted to play with capturing some of the energy of the show in ways that I generally don’t. I know as a photographer, I often focus on achieving clinical sharpness and perfectly frozen motion, but photos like this, that go so far to the other boundary (for me) are a nice reminder to step back and try something new every now and then. The blur wasn’t a necessity to get enough light, there was plenty of that coming through the garage doors, it was just trying to do something different for me. Sometimes it works, and others it doesn’t. But when it does, and it does well, it’s a nice reward.
