One of my biggest struggles as a photographer is sharing my work. Lately, it’s been nothing short of erratic, and I’ll blame some of that on a lack of new content, and some of it just on me. I can never decide what photo to share when (especially when it’s days or weeks after an event. Will this photo get a “response”? Will people like it?), or what sequence to share the photos, what time do I post them? Oh, after 7, it’s too late, gonna have to try again tomorrow. Social media, and all that comes with it, is a blessing and a curse, and I feel that even more so when it comes to my creative outlets (and I’m already my worst critic). So, to say I struggled with what photo to share first from Riot Fest is an understatement, and one I’ve been trying to wrap my head around for a few days. I didn’t post during the fest because honestly, I just didn’t have the energy. Running around, covering sets, seeing friends old and new, trying to cull and rate photos on the back of cameras, squeezing in a meal when I could manage between the end of the third song and when I judged I’d need to line up for my next band, and then at the end of the night, doing a final cull and upload for Discovered Magazine before I passed out watching ESPN. I love every minute of working a fest like Riot Fest, but it truly is exhausting. So now, here I am, two weeks later, trying to decide what to share and when. I managed to make a lot of photos that I immediately knew were the ones, and they’re all queues up and ready to roll. But picking which would come first. Shit.

So here it is, one of my favorites from a weekend of photographing bands that I had never seen before, never thought I would ever see, let alone photograph, and bands I’ve been listening to for years. I hadn’t seen Against Me! in a very, very long time, and that weekend, I was so beyond stoked to finally get to photograph them. So yeah, I think I’m done rambling for a bit.
