I’ve always been afraid of heights. A nervous flyer. But, less than 24 hours in Alaska, I somehow found myself inside a helicopter high above a massive glacier below. ⁣

But I didn’t feel afraid. In fact, I felt an overwhelming sense of peace. Of awe. Inspiration. Might have cried a little. But not afraid. I did the day before. The week before, even. ⁣
⁣
That’s the thing about courage — you wouldn’t be courageous if you weren’t afraid sometimes. Brave if you weren’t nervous. ⁣
⁣
I’ve driven across the country and to nearly every state alone countless times. Hiked and camped alone in 47 major US national parks and countless other parks and monuments. And I’m afraid all the time. Even after all of that. ⁣
⁣
But that’s what makes me brave — I do it anyway. And I’m so glad I did. ⁣
