“Becoming a NYC Marathon streaker is special to me, because as a Civil Engineer with NYSDOT I ensure the roads and bridges are swept and maintained (no bumps and potholes) for any major bike and wheelchair races and marathons.”

NYRR member Pankaj Patel has worked for the New York State Department of Transportation for 30 years and not only helps to ensure the roads are safe for race day, but he also runs those roads himself as a 16-time New York City Marathon streaker. This year, he’s determined to make it to 17 when he takes on the 2023 #TCSNYCMarathon on November 5. 🤯👏

Pankaj became a member in 2002 when his two daughters were participating in #RisingNYRR events in Central Park. He then founded a running club while his daughters were running in high school.

“I started running with my two daughters and their coach at East Meadow High School track team and cross-country team. Then founded a running club in 2002 called Gujarati RRC to invite my family and friends to join NYRR races.” 👯‍♀️🫶

Pankaj recently earned the coveted Six Star Medal in April after completing all six Abbott World Marathon Majors. In addition to the wmmajors, he's also run marathons in Mumbai, Paris, Ireland, and Sydney. 

“I run because…I enjoy the feeling of completing the race and the accomplishment of setting goals and motivating yourself to keep going. My motto is ‘Pain is temporary, but pride is forever!’" 💙🥳🧡
