🔬 The University of Memphis and Meharry Medical College (MMC), the largest private historically Black academic health science center in the U.S., are launching a new initiative -  the Program to Enhance Collaborative and Interdisciplinary Research (PECIR).

Six teams, comprised of faculty members from both schools, were selected to receive $50,000 grants for their projects.

Assistant professor Dr. Melissa Puppa's project (in collaboration with Dr. Smita Misra from MMC), "Elucidating mechanisms for the sexually dimorphic response to diet induced obesity and metabolic syndrome," was among those chosen.
