2018 Australian Racing Hall Of Fame Inductee, Malcolm Johnston:
In a career exceeding twenty years Malcolm Johnston was Sydney’s champion jockey three times, the first when still an apprentice, 1975-76. With 40 city winners in his first year, Johnston became a crowd favourite, praised for fearlessness, strength, grace and balance. 
He was most closely identified with Kingston Town, riding him in 25 of the great horse’s 30 wins. Injury and suspensions often put him on the sidelines but his comebacks were eagerly awaited. For six years he was T.J. Smith’s principal jockey. He also rode with success in Singapore. 
Johnston retired in 1993 with more than 2000 winners to his name. “Australia’s miracle jockey: Johnston is nostalgia on horseback, galloping out of an older Australia… He is pre-eminently a battler with winning ways.”
