Next up, meet Brock Butler bbutle02 from Chester Springs, PA who has quietly made a name for himself as one of the favorites in the Men's Masters Division!  Brock completed his Round 1 race in 10:08 (2 miles) and tied for the fastest Round 2 time in 4:35 (1 mile). With some very strong Master's PR's, (see below) he is going to be one to watch out for in the next two weeks.

“The best part of the Beat the Heat tournament, for me, has been bringing athletes together — some virtually and some in person — to compete and share stories. I’ve re-arranged my training to fit the tourney schedule and include other athletes in the Philly area who are competing. My strategy is to put in some big workouts this week and get a fitness boost for the 2K in the final round, while doing just enough to get through the 5K in Round 3.”

Also, Brock notes that all of his personal bests are on road/track the last couple years, but at least half his races are on trails, mountains, or XC courses. "I’ve done a bunch of ultramarathons (50K up to 100miles), skyrunning races, and things like that. I like to keep it fun and diverse.”
