Things that took me a LONG time to realize: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•It is OKAY to lean on people ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•It is OKAY to ask for help ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•It is OKAY to not be okay ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I heard something recently that just didn’t sit well with my soul. A woman was talking about hardships that she was experiencing in life and at the conclusion of her talk she said “but it could always be worse. I have so much to be thankful, that I feel like I don’t deserve to be unhappy about this stuff…”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I thought this was so sad. And don’t get me wrong I am all for being aware of your situation and being grateful for the good things in life. But we’re hearing it more and more, especially with social media…people are attacking each other saying things like “first world problems” and “at least it’s not this…” or “it could be so much worse”….or devastatingly, someone could say “that’s all that’s wrong?”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I think people should be able to admit when they’re sad, or tired, or struggling, or falling apart despite what others think. Just because people might think a person has a “picture perfect” life doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to FEEL what they feel. Yes, there’s a lot messed up stuff going on in the world right now. Yes, friends and family might be going through something that’s “worse”. But just because there’s other stuff going on around you doesn’t mean you should feel the need to neglect your own mental health. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s never easy to say you need help, no matter your situation - but it is OKAY to need it. And it can be hard to find a place to start that journey - but you don’t have to do it alone. Sometimes it can be hard to turn to friends and family so if you’re looking for a judgement free place to start - steadymd can help. They can recommend you to people you can talk to, and they offer so many great resources to aid along your journey. #mentalhealthawareness #youareworthit #xoxo
