This now-beloved hiking and birding destination got its name for a reason! Celery was grown in the "muck" here for 70 years until the farmlands were sold by 1995.

#dyk this land was constructed for drainage too? The Celery Fields are still a primary flood mitigation zone for the destination. The fact that it's beautiful and filled with over 240 species of birds and other wildlife is a major bonus though! 🤩🐦🌴 #sarasota100 #mysarasota
