Night Blooming Cereus Cactus (Selenicereus grandiflorus)
Blooms in Sarasota, FL on 6.4.2019 - Shares are Welcome

Tonight will be the viewing party to see all of the blooms at Selby Gardens - Marie Selby Botanical Gardens! Be sure to go check it out and keep an eye out in your neighborhood. Light painted long exposure photos of the flowers with my Nikon D500. All Hail the Queen of the Night! 
The return of the Night Blooming Cereus cactus! A.K.A the "Queen of the Night" - this flower blooms for only one night out of the year before it disappears. These magnificent flowers bloom to up to 7" across and produce the most heavenly scent.

This is my 6th time to experience these flowers and it never gets old. It is such a privileged and honor to be in their presence for their 1 big night. You can see some already dead in the photo shriveled up. It is beautiful and sad at the same time. An amazing visual of life, death and beauty that happens so fast. 360+ days a year this cactus looks like nothing and people decide to cut it down. If you wait long enough and pay attention you might just be able to see the magic for yourself. Have a great night! Love y'all.
