Early in my pregnancy, I was so frustrated by all the negativity around me. “Sleep now, because you’ll never sleep again,” people insisted. “Oh you feel great now, but just wait until the third trimester,” they told me. Or, “Go on date nights with boldceo now, because once that baby gets here, date nights don’t exist!” There was so much “just wait” and “it gets worse,” and I would sort of smile politely, but I HATED it. I was so excited and was — for the first time in a Crohnsy while! — feeling really good and strong. And man, did people want to “warn me” about all the doom and gloom and diapers ahead. But today I realized that has mostly stopped. I still get the occasional “the last few weeks of pregnancy will be the worst and slowest of your life” or “enjoy your showers now, because once the baby is here you won’t be able to shower EVER AGAIN.” But generally, I feel surrounded by a lot of love, support, and genuine excitement. Hell yeah life is changing, and no, I definitely have no idea what I’m in for or how any of it will go. But that makes it all kind of cool, I think. Moral of the long-winded story: I love happy thoughts and positivity and I think this is going to be a lot of fun. Hard? Probably! Crazy? Sure! But fun, too.
