Today I trained with my client theebiggeste , Eli, who has become a lot more than a client. A friend, a supporter of my businesses, and an all around good person. I’m glad I got to know him. Because, being brutally honest with myself, he intimidated me a little when I first met him 6 months ago. I specifically remember in my head thinking, “yeah he can out bench me, but can he out squat me?” - and now, I feel like a giant ass hat. I’d never even had a conversation with the guy. And he’s 19, a decade younger than me! Like, good for him for being strong as fuck. A lot of people tell me , “you’re big, you’re strong” but really in my head I still feel like a weak little kid that used to get bullied. And Eli was stronger than me. So I tried to put him down in my head to feel secure. How wrong was was I? Eli is one one the humblest people I know. He’s stronger than most, and just because he’s bigger than most too doesn’t mean he’s a threat. Quite the opposite; a friend. I am sharing this because so many people tell me they are glad they got to know me, that I intimidated them, and I’m so glad Eli reached out to me. I have a lot of work to do on myself, but want to thank you Eli for pushing me to become a better friend, coach and human all around. We all need to stop judging a book by its cover. Eli I am proud as fuck of you. You’ve picked the hardest endeavor I can imagine. 12 weeks out. Keep pushing. Thanks for listening. HTBDE 💚
