A.J. Foyt, “Super Tex” in a Porsche is still something that many can’t imagine. The man who conquered Indy, NASCAR and Le Mans in a Ford and swore by Craftsman Tools... 

Foyt also knows what it takes to be competitive and in the 80’s he did it in Porsches. The 935 and the 962 took Foyt to major wins at Daytona and Sebring. When it came time to enter his own 962, Foyt went with a Holbert Racing chassis and enlisted Brumos Porsche for assistance. 

Of course Foyt’s main sponsor reflected that Texas attitude with just a pinch between your cheek and gums.

The Luft curated gallery “Prototype Giants” highlights the storied dominance of the Porsche 956 + 962 and runs now through November 30th at the hagerty Vault of the Petersen. 

This Thursday evening a ticketed cocktail reception will take place at the Petersen in celebration of this racing lineage. Link in bio for details and tickets.
