💭  I remember… 

🛌🏽…all my siblings & I sleeping in my parent’s room bcus we only had 1 AC unit. 

📺…learning how to speak Spanish from my parents & English from watching TV. 

🇺🇸…My mom studying for her citizenship test on our car rides to the store.

🏠…My dad losing his job & later that year, losing our house.

🇲🇽…the day I realized I was the only Mexican in my entire college.
 
🎓 I remember all of these thoughts caught in my throat as I walked down the steps of the Peabody Oprah house to receive my Doctoral Degree.”
