“Remember when you were apprenticing and worked a night job to make $100-$150 a week? Remember when I said it’s time to find a new job and career? Im so sorry, I was wrong. Im so proud of you. I love you mijo”.
These are the words my father told me at the anaheimducke Dia De Muertos game when they players came out for warm ups wearing the jersey I designed. He gave me a hug and started tearing up. It instantly took me back to when my father took me and my brother to our first ducks game when I was 7 years old and now here we are 28 years later, but this time I get to bring him back to celebrate Dia De Muertos and my jersey reveal. This day hit me harder than I could have ever imagined. The support received behind the holiday and the art was incredible. Even now, days later, people are sending incredible messages, sharing stories, I have randomly run into people in the streets that have mentioned  how much they love the jersey, I am beyond words at this point. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Anaheim Ducks history. My family doesn’t have much of history that has been passed down but I hope with this moment I can start something to leave behind long after I’m gone. 

I love this sport so much. I’m thankful for what the ducks have brought to our community. I’d like to thank jomaestro for bringing me this opportunity  and everyone at the Ducks organization who made this possible. Thank you to all my incredible friends who are always so damn supportive and looking out. Thank you to my amazing girlfriend denisse_quijano for being such an amazing human and source of inspiration/love/support. Thank you to my my mom, dad, lovejerez chefpenyuno for always being there for me through everything good and bad. It meant everything enjoying this special moment with you.
